changing of the guard….

This week we did what we’ve done so many times before when Isaac is in the hospital – mommy and daddy traded places. As hard as it is to spend weeks in the hospital it is just as hard to leave. After years of doing this you would think it gets easier, but it doesn’t.
We do have other children at home, and jobs and responsibilities, and we have to take care of them as well. It still doesn’t seem fair. It’s hard to leave our kids behind to be with Isaac when he needs us most, and we are very lucky that our kids understand and are surrounded by love no matter where we are.
We rely on facetime, and text messages to relay information and news in both directions.
Even as we are struggling to juggle it all, as so many of the families we have gotten to know do, we are grateful. We always bring Isaac home – not all families get that luxury. Isaac always blows us away with his compassion, maturity and understanding.
We talk a lot about the lessons we learn from him, I think that’s because there seems to be no end to his awesome 🙂
