Isaac is no newbie when it comes to school, after 4 years of preschool in our county schools. He is a newbie at KINDERGARTEN! Two years ago we made the decision to delay the start of kindergarten for a year to give Isaac time to mature and recover from the surgery we knew was coming his way. We wondered at that point if it was the right choice…
As with most of the choices we second guess in life, this was absolutely the right thing to do for Isaac. Two days ago he took kindergarten by storm! He was confident, excited, the best listener, and possibly a little too confident in his counting skills (when mama teaches Algebra it’s hard NOT to be confident!).
We are so excited to have Isaac in his neighborhood school, with his neighborhood friends this year. He is so excited to have already made several new friends in class – friends who didn’t ask about his trach or wonder why he “talks funny”.
As parents, we often fantasize about “firsts”……. first words, first steps, first day of school, etc. Isaac has successfully changed our preconceptions regarding every single first he has experienced. His first day of kindergarten did however live up to our every expectation.
While life continues to throw us curveballs we are forever grateful for the entire village that brought Isaac to where he is today.
